Environmental/Civil Engineer
Engineers who work in aquatic environments typically have a background in environmental engineering or civil engineering. Engineers are usually engaged in planning and design of flood control structures, shoreline protection structures, harbors, marinas, and wastewater treatment facilities. They may also conduct environmental assessments activities related to navigation. They may work for federal agencies like the Army Corp of Engineers, for universities as researchers, for engineering firms, or for corporations.
